About Me

As a painter, I am primarily self taught, with friends & mentors providing advice along the way. I recently took some time to paint plein air in my home state of Michigan, all the way to Copper Harbor! It was so inspiring, I hope to to a longer painting trip again.

I was taught how to sculpt by the late Jay Holland at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. More recently, classes at the Vermont Carving Studio, the “Marble/Marble Symposium” in Colorado, and 2Sculpt in Kansas were essential in learning the art of stone carving. I love the beauty of stone even as I open it up.
I love the feeling I get painting in oils- whether in studio or plein air, it gives me a sense of peace. However, sometimes a sculpture can express what a painting cannot…
It is a joy whether I’m working paint, clay or stone!
